Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council Troop #1116, St. Libory, IL

Current Activities

We started our meeting together with the Brownie troop by reciting the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law.

We began our activities by completing an activity from the Manners Try-It with the Brownie troop. We tried our hands at using chopsticks while eating Chicken Lo Mein. We also ate fortune cookies. Most of the girls did a great job and enjoyed it.

We the discussed the “respect myself and others” purple petal and the “respect authority” magenta petal. We discussed information about our own rights as a person and ways to respect others in society. We also discussed about following directions and authority figures in our community.

We will complete another bridging activity and other daisy activities or crafts at the next meeting.

We will also try to catch a few of the girls up on activities that have been missed before the end of the year. and continue with our petals and bridging activities.

We will soon begin our “use resources wisely” green petal. If anyone has any ideas on some reusing and recycling activities, please call Carol.

***The Daisy Sports Day has been cancelled. I am so sorry I looked at the wrong deadline date but we do have a similar activity set up for April 5th. Permission slips will go out soon!

Important Information

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 30th right after school until 4:30pm. We will be back at the school for the meeting.

Please remind the girls to wear their Daisy necklaces and pins to every Girl Scout event including meetings.

We will begin discussing our bridging ceremony that will take place around the end of the school year. If anyone would like to volunteer to help plan the ceremony, please call Carol. All help would be greatly appreciated.

I will be going to the council shop sometime in February if anyone would like to place an order for uniforms. Uniforms are not required, but they are recommended. Since the girls are only Daisies for one year, we are suggesting that you buy the minimum. The only items that we suggest is the World Trefoil pin and the insignia tab for a total of $4.05. We have also set up our Daisy Girl Scout Troop website. We will try to have an update on it soon. The address is listed at the top of this and future newsletters. Please check it out and sign our guestbook.

If anyone has any questions or comments, please call Carol at 768-4603.

Thank you, Carol and Sue
