Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council Troop #1116, St. Libory, IL

Current Activities

We started our meeting together with the Brownie troop by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law.

All of our activities that we completed were done with the Brownie troop. We discussed the “responsible for what I say and do” petal which was about our manners and our actions with certain circumstances.

We also completed the Brownie Manners Try-It with the Brownie troop. Completing a Brownie activity is one of the requirements of Bridging to Brownie Girl Scouts or “Getting Your Brownie Wings.“ There are three more requirements that we will complete within the next few months. While completing the Manners Try-It, we discussed different ways on how to respect others, polite introductions, phone manners, and greetings from around the world.

At the next meeting we will learn a foreign eating custom by trying our hands at chopsticks and Chinese food.

We will also try to catch a few of the girls up on activities that have been missed and continue with our petals and bridging activities.

We completed our meeting by picking our Daisy Dollar gifts.

***The Daisy Sports Day has been cancelled. I am so sorry I looked at the wrong deadline date but we do have a similar activity set up for April 5th. Permission slips will go out soon!

Important Information

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, January 30th right after school until 4:30pm. We will be meeting at the school, then going to Carol’s house for the meeting. You will need to pick up your daughters at Carol’s house.

We will be learning a foreign eating custom by trying our hands at chopsticks and Chinese food. We will also continue with our petals and bridging activities.

I will be going to the council shop sometime in the end of January or early February if anyone would like to place an order for uniforms. Uniforms are not required, but they are recommended. Since the girls are only Daisies for one year, we are suggesting that you buy the minimum. The only items that we suggest is the World Trefoil pin and the insignia tab for a total of $4.05. The girls have already received their Daisy membership pins at the Investiture Ceremony. Please remind the girls to wear their Daisy necklaces and pins to every Girl Scout event including meetings.

We have also set up our Daisy Girl Scout Troop website. We will try to have an update on it soon. The address is listed at the top of this and future newsletters. Please check it out and sign our guestbook.

If anyone has any questions or comments, please call Carol at 768-4603.

Thank you, Carol and Sue
