Girl Scouts of River Bluffs Council Troop #1116, St. Libory, IL

Current Activities

We started our meeting together with the Brownie troop by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law.

We discussed our first field trip that is planned on Oct. 17th right after school to Cold Stone Creamery. The cost is $4 per girl and participating adult. Please have the girls return their permission slip by our next meeting on Oct. 10th.

After breaking into the different age groups, the Daisy girls made stick selves. They decorated craft sticks and dressed them by using felt, lace, yarn for hair and eyes. They also discussed learning the Girl Scout Promise and earning their petals. They made Daisy necklaces that included a copy of the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law that they are supposed to bring to every meeting.

The girls will finish decorating their Daisy necklaces and learning the Promise at the next meeting.

We are also collecting for our first service project for local animal shelters. A list of supplies needed was sent home. We will be collecting items until Oct. 24th. Each girl collecting/donating will be receiving a participation patch.

After snack, the girls used some of their extra energy and played outside for about 10 minutes. At the end of the meeting, the girls learned our closing by participating in the Girl Scout Friendship Squeeze.

Important Information

The next meeting will be on Wednesday, October 10th right after school until 4:30pm.

We will be having a small ceremony at our next meeting. Any parents are welcome to attend.

The dues for the meeting will be $1 per meeting. The girls cannot bring their dues until they become Brownie Girl Scouts, so we are asking that the parents pay for the entire year for a total of $16.

I will be going to the council shop soon if anyone would like to place an order for uniforms. Uniforms are not required, but they are recommended. Since the girls are only Daisies for one year, we are suggesting that you buy the minimum. The Brownie Troop is going to sponsor the Daisy Troop by purchasing the Daisy membership pins for each girl. The only other items that we suggest is the World Trefoil pin and the insignia tab for a total of $4.05. The girls will then receive their membership pins at the Investiture Ceremony.

We have also set up our Daisy Girl Scout Troop website. The address is listed at the top of this and future newsletters. Please feel free to check it out and let us know what you think. We will also include all important information on the website. There is also a link to the Brownie Troop website.

In anyone has any questions or comments, please call Carol at 768-4603.
